Nicholas & Co asked us to work with them to develop their IT strategy as they had on site servers which were aging and in need of either a hardware refresh or a move to offsite hosting. They were also working with a Managed Service Provider that were not, at that time, meeting expectations or delivering the required service standards.
The first step in our work with them was to interview staff to get a deep understanding of what issues were being experienced, also to speak with the various suppliers involved (both hardware and software) to understand the root causes of any issues and to encourage better and more responsive behaviour.
We then assessed the needs of the business and made the recommendation that Nicholas & Co move from hosting their systems “on site” to secure, robust managed hosting of their IT systems. This recommendation also included assessing the incumbent suppliers service delivery against other providers.
We then moved forward with a tender for the Managed Services and infrastructure refresh. Using our tender process, developed over many years, we engaged with both the incumbent and other service providers to ensure that we could meet the as many as possible of the firm’s expectations and requirements, gathered in the discovery sessions.
Once the supplier and infrastructure model had been selected, we assisted with the contractual negotiations, project planning, implementation, through to a successful go live.
The team at Nicholas & Co were fully engaged throughout the process (despite being very busy with some other significant business projects at the same time) and strong in support of confident and structured negotiations.
