Longmores – Fee Earner Rate Change Project

The Challenge

Longmores engaged Baskerville Drummond to support them in a project to update fee earner charging rates across the firm. The changes were needed to ensure that billing rates reflected the firm’s current pricing structure and could be applied consistently across all departments. With the start of a new financial year approaching, there was an imperative to have the new rates in place accurately and within a clearly defined timeframe.

The Approach

We worked closely with the Finance team and other key stakeholders to review the existing setup, understand how rates were being managed, and identify any areas where changes could affect billing, reporting, or existing matters. This review helped the firm gain a clear understanding of the work required and ensured that all rate updates were planned carefully. Any exceptions or special charging arrangements were identified and addressed before implementation.

The Solution

Once the new rates had been agreed, we coordinated the work to implement the practical changes within the practice management system, including supporting the testing and validation activities to ensure that the updates were applied correctly and that billing calculations continued to work as expected. Throughout the project, regular communication with the firm ensured that everyone involved understood the planned changes, the implementation schedule, and any actions required from them.

The project was completed successfully, and all new rates were implemented in time for the new financial year.
