Asserson – PMS Selection

Baskerville Drummond were introduced to Assersons by Chris Bull of Edge International. Chris and his team had undertaken a thorough analysis of the Assersons finance function and had recommended that Assersons introduced a fully featured finance solution.

Following a comprehensive briefing from Chris and the Assersons team we were engaged to help Assersons select a Practice Management System. As Assersons are a multinational, multi currency operation our pre-engagement assumption was that we would be undertaking a “Best of Breed” finance system selection between two well known solutions.

However, it was soon recognised that Assersons would not need, or use, a lot of the complex functionality provided by those solutions.

This left us with a challenge: if we need the complexity of multi-currency, multi-office and multi jurisdictional reporting, how could that be achieved without using one of the big beast, “Best of Breed” systems. We considered, but quickly discounted the option of multiple installations of the same “traditional” Single Supplier solution and a centeralised database for reporting.

Thankfully, Assersons were the type of firm who dare to be different so ‘following the herd’ was not a selection consideration. Focusing on the unique requirements of Assersons, such as complying with UK and Israeli tax reporting requirements, integration to Hashavshevet and subsequent submission of individual invoices to the e-Invoiving platform, and multi currency we undertook a selection process involving four SaaS solutions. This included an Israeli based professional services time recording system with tight integration to Hashavshevet and a newly emergant “challenger” finance system.

The formal approach enabled Assersons to assess challenger products against the “establishment”, and to determine acturate project costs and timelines. Most importantly they were able to determine which of the solution vendors most aligned with their requirements and were committed to forming a long-lasting partnership.
